March 19 Cosmic Pi Podcast: Special guest Ian Shelton, discoverer of Supernova 1987A

On February 24, 1987, astronomy student Ian Shelton, working at a remote mountaintop observatory in Chile, discovered the nearest and brightest supernova seen in nearly 400 years. Since 1987, astronomers have undertaken detailed studies of the aftermath of the supernova explosion, uncovering secrets on how massive stars die.
