Announcing the winners of UND’s 10th Annual Three Minute Thesis competition

The School of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the final results of the 10th Annual Three Minute Thesis competition that was held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Memorial Union.

Congratulations to Johan Dominguez Lopez, master’s student in Environmental Engineering, who took first place for his talk titled, “Detecting Forever: Real-Time Analysis of PFAS Chemicals.”

Taking second place was Kim Berthet of Earth System Science & Policy for “Life at the Edge of Space,” and third place went to Chidiebele Oraegbuna of Biomedical Sciences for “Brain Food: Unlocking Memory with the Fat That Thinks.”

All three received cash prizes for their placement in the competition.

Lopez will move on to the regional 3MT competition hosted by the Western Association of Graduate Schools at their annual meeting later this spring.

The School would also like to recognize the others who made it to the final round of competition this past week:
