Ken Grohs retires after 43 years of service

After an extraordinary 43 years of service, Ken Grohs is retiring from the Energy and Environmental Research Center. His last day will be April 10.

Grohs’s career with the EERC spans decades of growth, change and steady leadership. He first joined the EERC (then the Grand Forks Energy Technology Center) in 1979, worked as a DOE contractor from 1980 to 1983, then returned full time to the EERC after the facility was defederalized in 1983.

Grohs started as a Pilot Plant Operator III within the EERC and quickly became the lead for Facilities and Safety. He is retiring as the long-standing Director of Facilities. Throughout his tenure, Grohs has played a key role in maintaining and advancing the EERC’s facilities and safety operations. Ken has been integral to the construction of seven buildings, in additional to many other capital projects. His deep institutional knowledge, practical expertise and commitment to doing things the right way have made a lasting impact on the EERC and the people who work there.

Please join us in congratulating Ken, and don’t forget to sign the guestbook.
