Nikki Krueger hired as communications director for UND
Nikki Krueger was hired as UND’s next communications director in the Division of Marketing & Communications.
Her start date was Monday, June 22.
As communications director, Krueger will oversee day-to-day management of UND’s communications team, lead internal and external communications, manage media relations and training, guide strategic and crisis communications and oversee Freedom of Information Act request processing and responses.
The division’s communications team publishes blogs such as UND Today, University Letter and UND Press Releases while also helping to develop and disseminate campuswide communications, among other duties.
Krueger will succeed Tom Dennis, associate communications director, who is set to retire on Aug. 21 after serving eight years as editor of UND Today and supervisor to the communications team.
Her role as director absorbs some responsibilities currently managed by David Dodds, prior communications director, who last year was named assistant vice president of communications for the division.
Krueger is a longtime member of the UND community, first serving as a communication and project coordinator for the Center for Rural Health at UND’s School of Medicine & Health Sciences from 2010 to 2017.
She most recently served as communications director for the Energy & Environmental Research Center on campus from 2017 to 2026, where she directed strategic communications and marketing, executive messaging and stakeholder outreach.
Originally from Crookston, Minn., Krueger received her bachelor’s degree in scientific and technical communication from the University of Minnesota.
