UIT launched new UND Directory
Editor’s note: This post first appeared on the Website Updates blog on June 1.
UIT launched the new UND Directory on April 24, 2026. It included many back-end enhancements that are critical to maintaining the Directory including code fixes, accessibility, security, automated error tracking, and performance improvements.
Marketing & Communications has been actively working with UIT to identify and resolve bugs, formatting issues, and functionality concerns.
Review Your Directory Profile
The UND Directory is the second most visited page on the UND website. Faculty and staff are encouraged to review their Directory profile to ensure their information is accurate and displaying as expected.
Changes were made during the transition that may have affected your profile information.
- Alternative titles can no longer be edited in the Directory at Human Resources’ request. Follow the instructions on the Directory Instructions page to request an update to your title.
- Alternative email was removed to align with UND’s email policy, which requires employees to use their UND.edu email account for all University business.
- Mailing address was removed because employees were adding non-mailing information in that field or duplicating their official PeopleSoft address that automatically displays.
- Private profile functionality was reset in the transition. A small number of individuals previously requested that their Directory profiles be hidden for privacy reasons. Because there was no record of those requests, profiles were re-enabled during the transition. If you would like your profile hidden, please submit a ticket to UIT. Profiles can either be fully visible or fully hidden.
Information for Web Content Editors
Auto People Listing Snippets Transitioning to Components
The biggest change for web content editors is that Auto by Dept and Auto by IDM people listing snippets will transition to components. Manual people snippets will remain unchanged.
UIT will convert the approximately 350 existing auto people snippets to components on your behalf. UIT plans to transition one site on June 8, 2026. If successful, the remaining snippets will be transitioned on June 14, 2026.
Prior to the transition, those with access to the CMS must:
- Check in/unlock all pages that contain the auto people snippet.
- Publish any pages with saved but unpublished pages.
Failure to do these two things will mean your snippets will not be converted automatically. You must manually transition any remaining auto people snippets before they are officially retired on June 30, 2026. All content will be lost if you have an auto or IDM people snippet that wasn’t converted.
GTAs
GTAs have been added to the Directory and are now available as an option in the new component. If you would like to display GTAs on your page (using content pulled from the Directory), you will need to select that option once snippets have been transitioned to components.
Many departments currently maintain manual GTA lists on their websites, so please review your site to ensure there is no duplicate content.
Component Instructions
Marketing & Communications is working with UIT to develop instructions for creating and editing the new people components. Documentation will be available before the snippet-to-component transition begins.
