Eligible Content
Eligibility for University Letter is determined by the following criteria:
- Content in University Letter must be of interest to or intended for faculty and staff.
- Events must be approved and posted to the UND Events Calendar prior to promotion in University Letter.
- Donated leave requests will be published pending approval by the Director of Human Resources.
- Information from outside organizations will be considered for publication based on the benefit to and interest of the campus community. Cultural events within the community may be included at the discretion of the editor.
Non-Eligible Content
The following constitutes content not eligible for University Letter:
- Communication that is relevant only to student audiences.
- PDFs and flyers/advertisements.
- Content determined by the editor to be against Marketing & Communications content guidelines and policy.
Events
The Events category in U-Letter is designed to chronologically list events of relevance to faculty and staff audiences as available in the UND Events Calendar.
This list is manually curated by the editor based primarily on audience tags in calendar listings. Events tagged by “Faculty & Staff” and “General Public” will be considered for placement in the list, though placement is not guaranteed.
Note: When submitting a post to promote an event, please select the “Announcements” category.
Events excluded from the list include, but are not limited to:
- Student-only events.
- Academic calendar dates and deadlines.
- Events with no listed audience.
- Recurring Wellness Center activities (e.g. classes, intramural sports).
- Dining Services themed events/meals.
- Events intended for singular College/department audience.
In Remembrance
In an effort to help keep the campus community informed, “In Remembrance” publishes notices about the deaths of members of the campus community, current or retired.
For those who are no longer employed or have since retired from the University, “In Remembrance” posts must be requested by a family member or representative of the family for the individual, or the UND department that the individual worked for (with the permission of the family or next-of-kin).
The eventual post will link to the original obituary that has been posted by a funeral home, newspaper or other media outlet.
“In Remembrance” is also used to carry announcements of deaths of current students, staff and faculty. In such cases, it is expected that the respective department will contact UND Communications and/or the internal communications editor to help prepare a statement on behalf of UND for wide distribution prior to inclusion in University Letter.
In the event of a current student’s death, the Division of Student Affairs will coordinate with family or next-of-kin to first determine whether to issue a statement, then produce a statement that will be distributed to the campus community by the internal communications editor, upon approval by the president. That statement will then be published in the next issue of University Letter.
Thank you for your interest in University Letter. If you have questions, please contact the editor.
