All participants and spectators are welcome to attend the first-ever UND Open Disc Golf Tournament, a Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) sanctioned competition featuring the region’s best professional disc golfers.

The Sept. 12-13 event, hosted at UND’s Ray Richards Golf Course, is open to the public and will feature multiple divisions of play, from beginners to experienced pros. The UND Open is a Pro/Am B-Tier tournament with divisions for all skill levels.

Of the 75 players currently registered, 25 are professionals.

Registration is available online at discgolfscene.com. The event listing can be found on the PDGA website.

Amongst the pros are Kyle Lajimodiere (Fargo), Deacon Heemstra (Moorhead, Minn.), Brent Waters (Grand Forks), Ryan Muizelaar (Grand Forks) and Cale Leiviska (Little Canada, Minn.). Muizelaar, a rising star in the sport, currently holds the unofficial course record at 17-under-par.

Leiviska, tournament director for the inaugural UND Open, is a touring professional ranked 8th in the PDGA and designed the recently installed course at Ray Richards Golf Course.

“The course has received rave reviews after being installed in May, and the event will become a staple on the Airborn Disc Golf Tour for years to come,” Leiviska said.
