UND Time Out Wacipi Powwow is Friday and Saturday, April 17-18
All are invited to celebrate UND’s 54th annual Time Out Wacipi Powwow at the Alerus Center

The community is invited to celebrate UND’s 54th annual Time Out Wacipi Powwow on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18, at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
Both days of the event are free and open to the public.
A powwow is considered a celebration of life. It is called Wacipi (wah-chee-pee) in the Lakota/Dakota language and Ni-mi-win in Anishinabe (Chippewa/Ojibwa) language. The celebration is a time when people of all ages can gather to sing, dance, renew old friendships, make new friends and share the beauty of life.
On Friday, April 17, the event will start with a Grand Entry at 7 p.m., featuring a procession of the dancers being led into the venue by military veterans and honored guests.
Saturday’s festivities start with a Grand Entry at 1 p.m., and there will be a traditional feed to honor performers, staff and the public at 5 p.m.
UND’s Time Out Wacipi Powwow traditionally features contest categories for singing and dancing, as well as vendors and concessions for guests.
The Indigenous Student Center website has more information about the event, including commonly asked questions for attendees.
