Successful Hydration Resources

Hydration Tips

  • Bring a reusable water bottle to work and refill it throughout the day
    • Fill up the water bottle before you go to bed, put it in the fridge overnight for cold water all day long
  • Opt for water when eating out. You'll save money and reduce calories!
  • Drink water with each meal
Healthier Drink Options
  • Low- or no-calorie beverages
    • Plain coffee or tea
  • If you're looking for some flavor, add it yourself
    • Berries, lemon or lime, or other fruit

Sparkling Water - Let's Talk About It

  • Sparkling water isn't necessarily healthy. In order to get it's fizz, pressurized carbon dioxide is added into the water
    • This carbonation may make some hungrier and cause you to eat more
  • To achieve a nice, fruity flavor, artificial sweeteners (stevia, aspartame, and sucralose) are added to the drink
  • Even though these sweeteners have zero calories, they are problematic because they are 200 - 20,000 times sweeter than sugar, meaning, it may cause cravings for more sweets
  • Additionally, zero-calorie artificial sweeteners may increase your risk for:
    • Heart disease
    • Weight gain
    • Stroke
