January is Glaucoma Awareness Month
Glaucoma is the leading cause of vision loss and blindness within the United States. Over three million Americans, as well as sixty million people worldwide have glaucoma. There are often no symptoms of Glaucoma before it is diagnosed. This Wellness Spotlight includes information on glaucoma, as well as how to prevent it.

Level Up Challenge
Building and maintaining new healthy habits take time. Starting small and being consistent is key. Work Well will help motivate you to make daily micro-additions to help you reach your chosen goal. Students enrolled in the Health and Wellness Coach Training program at UND need practice clients! If you are interested in FREE health coaching sessions, contact program director, Anne Bodensteiner at anne.bodenstiner@und.edu to sign up or learn more.
What is health coaching?
  • An opportunity to dive deep into your motivations, values, and strengths around your health
  • A health coach is trained to listen to YOU and what YOU want for your wellbeing
  • Health coaching allows you to create your own health goals and select actions to get you moving in that direction
Kitchen Basics
Dive into the kitchen! Join our FREE cooking demo on January 23 at 6:30pm for fun tricks, healthy tips, and hands-on-cooking. Be the taste tester too- its a win-win! This week we will be making Stuffed Pepper Soup & learning the basics of cooking rice. This class requires a Wellness Center membership.
Better Baking
Bid farewell to the notion that delicious desserts are off-limits when acheiving you health goals! In this FREE class on Feb 1 at 6:30pm, we'll debunk the myths and teach you how to strike the perfect balance between flavor and nutrition. Using nutrient-rich ingredients & smart baking techniques to discover the secret to crafting delectable treats while still meeting your goals! Wellness Center membership required to attend.

Rock Wall Family Days
Has your family ever wanted to try rock climbing? Visit the Wellness Center Rock Wall and experience it for yourself. This event gives families the opportunity to experience rock climbing with guidance and instruction from our Rock Wall Attendants. Each Family Day costs $15 per climber.

Healthy Departments is a way to recognize departments that make their staff members wellness a priority by having healthy meeting practices. UND Wellness & Health Promotion offers American Heart Association courses held right on campus to provide you with the critical training that you need for any emergency at home or work. These course are open to both UND affiliates and the general public. Our classes fill up quickly, so please register early to secure a spot.
