Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer in the United States, affecting both men and women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Each year, there are over 218,000 people in the United States diagnosed with lung cancer, and 149,000 people die from this disease. Although, if caught in the early stages, there is a high cure rate. This Wellness Spotlight includes information about who is at risk, symptoms of lung cancer, how to prevent it, as well as North Dakota smoking statistics.

The Gratitude Campaign gives participants daily gratitude activities to complete. Researchers suggest that gratitude should be practiced daily. After participating, individuals will feel more comfortable implementing gratitude into their everyday lives. Each day focuses on a different way to show gratitude. During October and November, Staff Senators sell 600 raffle tickets for $20 each. A winner is drawn for each day of December. Monday through Friday winners receive $100, Saturday winners receive $250, and Sunday winners receive $500!

All proceeds will provide professional development opportunities for UND benefited staff members.

These course are open to both UND affiliates and the general public. Our classes fill up quickly, so please register early to secure a spot.
