RefWorks reference management software subscription will be discontinued; free alternatives available
Because of low use, high costs, and the availability of free products, the subscription to RefWorks reference management software will be discontinued.
The decision to cancel the subscription, which is funded by the Student Technology Fee, is part of an annual review of software applications and subscriptions.
A team of representatives from UND Libraries and the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy (TTaDA) evaluated the current usage of RefWorks and available alternatives. Factors in making the decision included RefWorks usage, functionality, cost, and availability of robust free alternatives.
The RefWorks license expires June 30, 2019.
UND Libraries will support those who continue with RefWorks LITE, as well as those who choose to transfer their citations to another reference manager.
A research guide provides details as well as contact information for one-on-one assistance. During fall 2019 semester, the library will offer hands-on workshops for organizing and managing resources.
For more information on RefWorks LITE or other options, please check with a librarian and review the information available in the Library Libguides.
