Pasch to attend to NSF Arctic Social Science Planning Consortium

Associate Professor of Communication Timothy Pasch has been invited to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls to participate with NSF Arctic Division Program Directors and Arctic social scientists this month.

This event will gather a diverse group of scholars to discuss the state-of-the art in Arctic social sciences and develop visioning scenarios for the future of social science research in the Arctic. Themes include social sciences research and climate change; interdisciplinary research in the Arctic; social sciences and humanities in the Arctic, and applied social sciences research.

Dr. Pasch is a dual U.S./Canadian citizen fluent in French and Japanese, with Inuktitut language ability acquired through the U.S. Dept. of Education international FLAS initiative. He lived with an Inuit family in Inukjuaq, Nunavik (Arctic Québec) for his dissertation research and has more recently worked in Arviat, in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, where he has assisted with various digital research workshops focused on linguistic and cultural enhancement in the Inuit community.
