Dec. 7: Meet, Eat and Learn at the Loading Dock

Please join speakers Natalie Raymond and Julio Brionez and the UND Women’s Center for this month’s Meet, Eat and Learn. This event will take place Dec. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Memorial Union Loading Dock. Meet, Eat & Learn is an opportunity to learn something new, share views and ideas, and interact with others all while enjoying a delicious and free lunch. Below is a summary of what will be presented:

“In spite of the importance of sexuality in all of our lives, and the emphasis on concepts like “hook up culture,” students don’t often have the chance to openly share and learn about what sexuality means to them. Speakers Natalie Raymond and Julio Brionez will talk about the process of creating Counseling 399: Relationships, Sexuality, and Violence Prevention (RSVP), a class at UND that gives students this opportunity. Natalie and Julio will share about the development of the class, their experiences teaching the class, community reactions, and student feedback. Examples include:

  • why someone would or would not intervene to prevent a potential assault;
  • where stereotypes come from;
  • how we can change stereotypes;
  • our role as active members of our campus community.

Natalie and Julio will also talk about their experiences teaching classes separated by gender, and what the future of this conversation might look like.”
