Oct. 27: Open Educational Resources workshop

The week of October 23-29 is Open Access Week.

In honor of this, the UND OER Working Group is offering an Open Educational Resources/Open Access/Scholarly Communications workshop on Friday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the River Valley Room at the Memorial Union.  At 10 a.m., we will have a terrific guest speaker – Gerry Hanley, of MERLOT, who will discuss OERs, Open Access, the “Open” Movement in general, and the hundreds of free educational resources available through MERLOT and the California State University System.  From 11-1, we will have multiple hands-on workshop stations, covering such topics as Faculty Experiences with OERs; Grant Planning, Metadata, & Research Data Management Plans; Finding OERs for your Courses; OERs for Health Sciences & Law; Copyright, Creative Commons, & IP; OERs & Technology – Making It All Work; OA Journals & Scholarly Publishing; and our new Institutional Repository, the UND Scholarly Commons.

Please check out http://UND.edu/cilt/open-access-showcase  and http://blogs.und.edu/cfl/2017/10/open-access-week-und/ for more information.

Also, if you can’t come for the whole event, join us for any portion!  Invite your colleagues, faculty, staff, students, & friends … all are welcome!  Refreshments will be provided by the Office of the Provost.
