Dec. 22: Community Skate at The Ralph

CommunitySkateSharpen your skates and bring your family and friends to Community Skate 2017 at Ralph Engelstad Arena on Friday, Dec. 22. This family-friendly, holiday-themed ice skating event is free and open to the public from 6:30 to 8 p.m. No tickets are required and everyone is invited to come join in the fun.

Special guests at the event will include Grand Forks own Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux, former UND hockey players and two-time Olympians. Monique and Jocelyne are currently training for their third Olympics and are trying to become the first North Dakotans to win an Olympic gold medal.

In an effort to help offset family member’s travel expenses to the Olympics Games, the Sioux Shop is selling a special “Quest for Gold” tee-shirt line to raise funds for the Lamoureux family.

“We’re extremely proud to partner with the Lamoureux twins in order to help them raise money as they chase their Olympic dream of winning a gold medal,”said Jody Hodgson, General Manager at Ralph Engelstad Arena. All profits generated through the sale of the Lamoureux tee-shirt line will go directly to the travel fund.  The Sioux Shop will be open during this event.

Spectators and participants who want to skate and wish the Lamoureux twins “good luck” should park in the Ralph Engelstad Arena’s north lot and enter the Ralph through the Olympic Arena doors.  The Olympic Arena doors will open at 6:30 p.m.. Skate rentals will not be available on-site and all event attendees are required to bring their own skates for this event. For more information about the event, visit www.ralphengelstadarena.com.
