Sept. 6: Nonviolence series begins with ‘Welcome to Leith’

Target: Nonviolence is a public dialogue and deliberation series for UND and the greater Red River Valley Community. Events run every Thursday and Friday in September, and all are nonpartisan and open to the public.

Thursday nights will feature films with debriefing discussions hosted by guest speakers from nearby universities. Friday mornings will feature brown bag lunch discussions (bring your own or buy one at Archives) with each guest speaker on related themes.

  • Thursday, Sept. 6: Film & Discussion, “Welcome to Leith,” with guest speaker Adam Gaffey, Winona State, 7 p.m. at  Memorial Union Lecture Bowl
  • Friday, Sept. 7: Brown Bag Lunch Discussion with Adam. Topic: Hate Speech, 11 a.m. to noon at Archives Coffee House
  • Thursday, Sept. : Film & Discussion, “The Hunting Ground,” with guest speaker Rebecca Kuehl, South Dakota State, 7 p.m. at Boardwalk Bar & Grill
  • Friday, Sept. 14: Brown Bag Lunch Discussion with Becky. Topic: Sexual Violence and the #MeToo Movement, 11 a.m. to noon at Archives Coffee House
  • Thursday, Sept. 20: Film & Discussion, “3 1/2 Minutes, 10 Bullets” with guest speaker Wendy Weimerskirch Plager, Minnesota, 7 p.m. at Memorial Union Lecture Bowl
  • Friday, Sept. 21: Brown Bag Lunch Discussion with Wendy. Topic: Racism, 11 a.m. to noon at Archives Coffee House
  • Thursday, Sept. 27: Film & Discussion, “It Can Happen Here,” with guest speaker Craig Rood, Iowa State, 7 p.m. at Boardwalk Bar & Grill
  • Friday, Sept. 28: Brown Bag Lunch Discussion with Craig. Topic: Mass Shootings, 11 a.m. to noon at Archives Coffee House
