The UND Staff Senate is proud to announce the 2018-2019 Staff Senator of the Year, and for the first time ever, we have two winners. Both senators are committee chairs who have gone above and beyond their positions’ normal duties. UND Staff Senate President Tyler Clauson (middle) presented Staff Senator of the Year awards to Angela Holkesvig (left) and Megan Wasylow (right).

Angela Holkesvig, Staff Recognition Chair

Angela has done a terrific job elevating the Staff Recognition Committee. She puts her heart and soul into her work, bringing energy and creativity to all the events she manages. Angela puts in extra work and extra hours to make sure that everything is extraordinary. This year’s events weren’t just Staff Appreciation and Spring Fling. They also included the Sweet Tooth Social, a BBQ, and loads of prizes. When she plans an event, Angela plans a theme and infuses warmth into it. Her enthusiasm at staff events and for the UShine award process is contagious! She makes UShine winners feel extra special by adding personal touches to the surprise award presentation, such as music, balloons, and treats. She is always reliable and wants to make sure the job is done to the best of her ability. Hats off to Angela for leading her committee to greater results than ever before. She is an asset to UND Staff Senate. Thank you, Angela!

Megan Wasylow, Public Relations Chair

Megan has gone above and beyond in doing an exceptional job of getting the Staff Senate into the public eye. She has made a huge effort in the social media arena, helping to keep senators and UND staff informed on all things UND as well as the happenings in the Greater Grand Forks Community. From revamping the Staff Happens newsletter and editing all brochures, flyers, and other forms of communication to ensure the “ONE UND” brand is being followed, to growing Staff Senate’s Facebook presence and many more tasks on her plate, Megan has made an incredible effort and is a true gem. She is an extremely upbeat and forward thinking planner. She always has something positive to say, even when the subject matter is negative. Her energy and enthusiasm seem boundless, and she accomplishes a huge amount of work in very little time. Megan is always willing to volunteer and does so every chance she gets, even if it means working on a project during her personal time. She has new ideas, and the follow through, to continually enhance and contribute to the UND Staff Senate. Since she has taken over as chair, Megan has worked tirelessly to make the Public Relations Committee a force to be recognized. Thank you, Megan!
