Alpha Kappa Delta

The Department of Sociology and Alpha Kappa Delta visited the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg on Friday, October 11.

Five students (Jamison Ahlstrom, Kaityn Altendorf, Alexis Crane, Katera Thompson, and Austin Woessner) and two faculty members (Dr. Daphne Pedersen and Dr. Joe Jochman) attended the day trip.

The museum traversed eight floors and displayed a number of artifacts and interactive technologies to explore historical facts and current issues pertaining to human rights internationally.

The museum was designed in an ascending manner with each floor becoming progressively brighter to represent the continued work needed to advance human rights. At the top of the museum was a brightly lit dome which overlooked Winnipeg. The visit was very informative, inspirational, and reflective. We were lucky to visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and we are grateful to Alpha Kappa Delta for supporting our visit!
