UND Sociology Fall 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to another edition of the newsletter for the Department of Sociology at the University of North Dakota! I am happy to share with you the many ways in which our students, alumni, and faculty members are contributing to UND and the world!
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Dr. Janet Moen, our friend, colleague, and Professor Emerita. Dr. Moen brought immense compassion and energy to her role at UND, co-founding the Center for Peace Studies, Integrated Studies, and the Conflict Resolution Center at UND. We know you will enjoy learning more about her contributions.
In this newsletter, you can also read about the strong presence of UND Sociology at the annual meeting of the Midwest Sociological Society. Faculty members were involved in several ways, ranging from workshops on teaching to panels to research presentations to being the recipient of an award!
The Sociology MA program has enjoyed its first year back, with a small cohort of exceptional students who have been eager to enhance their sociological skills. If you are interested in the program or know of someone who may be interested, please reach out!
We do hope to hear from you! Drop us a quick line to let us know what you are up to. We would love to hear all about where life has taken you!
Best wishes,
Krista Lynn
