New Training Requirement – Introduction to Procurement

To promote transparency, efficiency, and compliance, Procurement and Payment Services (P&PS) is introducing training on UND’s Procurement Policy. This will equip faculty/staff with essential knowledge and best practices for effective, compliant procurement.

Key Dates to remember:

  • December 2, 2024 – Starting on this date, new users requesting a Requestor or Approver role must complete the training before the role is granted by P&PS.
  • March 31, 2025 – Deadline for current users with a Requestor or Approver role to self-enroll and complete the required training; failure to do so will result in loss of user access.

Why This Training Matters

The training will provide faculty/staff with:

  • A clear understanding of procurement policies and processes.
  • Practical skills for confident, compliant procurement.
  • Enhanced awareness of regulatory and compliance standards.

Who Needs to Complete the Training

  • All current Requestor or Approver users in UND Marketplace.
  • All who seek user access to UND Marketplace Requestor or Approver roles.
  • Current faculty/staff who only operate as ‘PI Approvers’ for sponsored program project approvals are not required.

How to Enroll and Complete the Training

To enroll:

  1. Training will not be assigned automatically to current or future faculty/staff.
  2. Faculty/staff must self-enroll by logging into Blackboard with their NDUS identifier.

How do I determine if I have a Requestor or Approver role?

What if I do not perform the user role of Requestor or Approver any longer?

  • Use the Access Request Form on the UND Marketplace Forms and Links page to request removal of Requestor or Approver roles.

If I am a PI Approver, am I required to complete this training?

  • No.  PI Approver are welcome but not required to complete this training at this time.

Is the training different for the Requestor or Approver role?

  • No.  The training and its requirement to complete are the same for both Requestor and Approver.

Does this training pertain to the Shopper role?

  • No.  This training does not affect the Shopper role in UND Marketplace and is not required to gain access to UND Marketplace.

Will I receive a certificate upon completion?

  • Yes, a certificate will be awarded upon completion, which can be used for your professional records.

If I am a current Requestor or Approver in UND Marketplace, will I lose my user role access if I do not complete the training?

  • Yes, if you do not complete the training by March 31, 2025 you will lose Requester or Approver access.  Reminders will be sent to those current faculty/staff as the deadline approaches.

Can new faculty/staff acquire a Requestor or Approver user role in UND Marketplace before completing training?

  • After December 2nd, new users will not be approved for a Requester or Approver role without the certification of completion.

Upon receiving my certificate of completion, how do I notify P&PS so I can gain access to UND Marketplace as a Requestor or Approver?

  • For current users with existing access, your completion status will be monitored through Blackboard by March 31, 2025. There is no need to send your certificate to a P&PS representative.
  • Starting December 2, 2024, all new role requests in UND Marketplace must use the Access Request Form on the Forms and Links page. Attach the employee’s completion certificate for Requestor or Approver roles; requests without it will not be approved.
