Travel Reminder – ID requirement for air travel effective May 7th, 2025
As a reminder to the campus community, beginning on May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States. You can find a list of other acceptable identification and other information at the TSA website.
REAL ID-compliant drivers licenses/other ID cards will have of one of the following markings on the upper top portion of the card. If the card does not have one of these markings, it is not REAL ID-compliant and won’t be accepted as proof of identity in order to board commercial aircraft:
REAL IDs cannot be applied for online; while some documents may be pre-filed, in-person application or appearance are required at an ND DOT or MN DPS location to update your drivers license to a REAL ID-compliant license.
