Personal Vehicle Mileage Rate Updated for 2026

In accordance with state and UND travel policy, the personal vehicle mileage rate for 2026 has been updated to the current GSA level:

• 72.5 cents per mile.

These changes have been applied to the e-reimbursement system for any travel occurring January 1st, 2026 or after. Travelers are reminded that:

• Use of a vehicle other than State Fleet must be approved by the employee’s supervisor prior to travel.
• If travel by motor vehicle that originated in the state of North Dakota exceeds any geographical point 300 miles beyond the borders of North Dakota, reimbursement is limited to $.18 cents per mile for miles driven beyond the 300 miles from the North Dakota border (see: NDCC 54-06-09.3)
