ACP North Dakota Chapter – Poster Competition Winners!

The American College of Physicians – North Dakota Chapter held a successful ACP week October 3-5, 2018, and included activities in Fargo (doctor’s dilemma, poster competition) and Bismarck (scientific meeting).

The Chapter received 35 posters in three categories. The winners in each category are:

Resident Clinical Vignette (Judges: Dr. Fadel Nammour & Dr. Mayank Singhal)
Winner: Dr. Minnu Monu, Spontaneous HIT following Total knee arthroplasty, a rare but life threatening syndrome.
Runner-up: Dr. Erik Heitkamp, Familial Partial Lipodystrophy Type 3: A Rare Case Report

Medical Student Clinical Vignette (Judges: Dr. Laura Nichols & Dr. Mohammed Zia Khan)
Winner: Michael Storandt, MS2, Prosthetic Joint Infection: An Extremely Rare Complication of Intravesicular BCG Therapy
Runner-up: Ellen Kronzer, MS3, Disseminated Mycobacterium Chelonae Infection with Tenosynovitis and Osteomyelitis in an Immunocompromised Host

Medical Student Research (Judges: Dr. Dubert Guerrero & Dr. Gautam Phadke)
Winner: Leigh Moyer, MS4 and Eric Torkelson, MS4, Impact of Distance on the Presentation, Treatment, and Outcomes of Lung Cancer Patients in the Northern Plains
Runner-up: Houda Abdelrahman, MS4, Lack of Association between Contraceptive Methods Use and Cervical Cancer Screening

All first place winners/first authors are eligible to present at the National ACP Competition in Philadelphia in April 2019. The medical student winners received the Internal Medicine Chairman’s Award which includes a cash prize for each winner and runner-up.
