Happy Medical Laboratory Professionals Week!

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science would like to wish everyone a happy Medical Laboratory Professionals Week!  We had some fun in-person activities planned for this week – but we will save them for next year instead.

The laboratory profession is often referred to as the “hidden medical profession” given that so much of our work occurs out of the direct view of patients and other health professionals. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, is bringing the laboratory profession into full view.  Never before has it been more apparent that having skilled laboratory professionals available to ensure accurate and timely laboratory results is essential for positive patient outcomes.

If you’re wondering a little more about who we are and what we do, I would encourage you to read this letter from MLS faculty member Linda Ray, published recently in the Grand Forks Herald. As Linda mentions, with all that’s going on right now, please know that there is a force of skilled laboratory professionals working behind the scenes for you and your health!
