Surgery Grand Rounds to focus on choledocholithiasis on Aug. 18

The next Surgery Grand Rounds event will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, and will feature a presentation entitled “Management of Choledocholithiasis,” to be given by Zachery Staskywicz, M.D., a fifth-year resident in the UND Surgery Residency Training Program.

This event will be held via Zoom/video conferencing.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the epidemiology and natural history of choledocholithiasis.
  • Apply risk stratification to patients to help manage choledocholithiasis.
  • Explain the steps for intraoperative treatment of choledocholithiasis.
  • Identify the controversial aspect for laparoscopic common bile duct exploration versus ERCP for the management of choledocholithiasis.

This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School’s Department of Surgery, is broadcast via video conference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
