Gretchen Mullendore Recieves NSF Grant
Dr. Gretchen Mullendore, Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, has been awarded $355,155 over 3 years by NSF for her proposal entitled “Deep convective transport to the upper- troposphere/lower- stratosphere”. The proposal was submitted to the Physical and Dynamic Meteorology Program of the NSF Atmospheric & Geospace Sciences Division. The funded research will use radar observations and atmospheric computer models to better quantify the current amount of transport of natural and anthropogenic gases from the near surface to the tropopause region in severe storms, important for understanding the ramifications of deep convection on the chemical budget, and consequently the ramifications on the radiative budget and climate change.
