NASA EPSCoR CAN International Space Station (ISS) Flight Opportunity – RFP

The North Dakota NASA Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is soliciting research proposals from faculty at the University of North Dakota (UND) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) that utilize the International Space Station (ISS) as a microgravity platform or test bed for a spaceflight demonstration. This Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN or solicitation) is for current or previously funded EPSCoR projects that are mature enough to design a research experiment or develop research experimental hardware to the point that it can be safely flown on the ISS. Each funded NASA EPSCoR proposal is expected to perform scientific and/or technical research in areas that support NASA’s strategic research and technology development priorities and contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher education, and economic development of the jurisdiction. Two proposals can be submitted from North Dakota for this opportunity.

Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a preliminary proposal (3 to 4 pages) to Dr. Santhosh Seelan via e-mail (seelan@space.edu) before COB February 24, 2014, outlining the central idea, rough budget, and why NASA should be interested in their proposal.  Full proposals are due by March 24, 2014.
