Brown Bag Seminar Series to Feature Tim Buli on November 19th
The fall semester Brown Bag Seminar Series features graduate students providing presentations on their current research and recent internships. The series continues on Wednesday, November 19th, featuring grad student Tim Buli presenting “NASA Technology Transfer Initiative and the Technology Transfer Program at Johnson Space Center (JSC).”
This series of presentations will be held in the Space Studies Library at noon. Lunch will be served. All grad students are expected to attend.
About the topic: Serving as an intern in the Technology Transfer Office at Johnson Space Center (JSC) during the summer of 2014 I was tasked with both the evaluation of newly disclosed technologies and the creation of presentation materials concerning NASA’s Technology Transfer Programs (TTP) for the purpose of outreach to entities and interested parties both inside and outside of NASA. The purpose of NASA’s Technology Transfer Programs (TTP) is to facilitate the transfer of NASA Developed technologies to entities outside of NASA for general use and/or commercialization, within the limits of personal and corporate intellectual property laws. An overview of TTP at JSC will be presented including outlines of the processes for the disclosure, evaluation, and transfer of new technologies as well as some examples of technologies developed at JSC for which information is available for immediate release to interested parties through JSC’s Technology Transfer Front Door.
About the presenter: I am a third year Space Studies student. I have a B.S. in Biology, and before moving to ND from NJ I taught Math and Science in grades 8-12 . I was a crew member for Mission I of the Lunar Mars Analog Habitat (LMAH) here at UND, and throughout the year I work as a GRA with Dr. Fevig and the ND Space Grant Consortium (NDSGC), organizing high altitude ballooning activities for STEM educational outreach in ND including the Near Space Ballooning Competition (NSBC) for student payload design. This summer I worked as a NASA intern in the Technology Transfer Office at Johnson Space Center.
