Nicole Evans receives Cyber Security Strategy Certification

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota Small Business Development Centers (ND SBDC) is pleased to announce that Nicole Evans, center director at the Grand Forks Center, has earned the Certified Cyber Security Strategy Certification through the North Star program.

The North Star certification provides SBDC advisors with essential cybersecurity knowledge, enabling them to guide small businesses in navigating today’s digital risks. Covering key principles such as threat detection, data protection, and incident response, advisors can provide informed advice on securing networks, safeguarding data, and developing effective response plans. This certification enhances advisors credibility, which is crucial in helping small businesses mitigate cyber threats and maintain operational resilience in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

“I’m thrilled to announce that Nicole has achieved the NorthStar Cybersecurity Certification,” said Tiffany Ford, ND SBDC state director. “This milestone strengthens the ND SBDC’s commitment to our clients’ data security. With expertise in safeguarding data and implementing appropriate policies and procedures in this space, we’re better equipped to guide businesses through the complexities of cyber threats and recovery. This certification assures our clients of our dedication to their success and our ability to navigate the digital landscape together.”

Evans, raised in a family with small businesses of their own, joined the ND SBDC in January 2017 and is a valuable member of the team. Her areas of expertise include start-up logistics, operations, and technology. She brings a wealth of experience, especially being a small business owner herself. In addition to a degree from Mayville State University, Evans is a Certified Business Advisor, QuickBooks Pro Advisor, Certified Exit Planning Advisor, and Advanced Business Intermediary.
