Laurel Reuter named juror for Smithsonian Exhibition

North Dakota Museum of Art Director Laurel Reuter was one of three jurors invited to
select the work for a groundbreaking exhibition of contemporary art by artists with
disabilities. Revealing Culture features more than 130 works of art in a broad range of
media—including installations, video, performance, painting, sculpture, and
printmaking—showcasing 55 artists chosen from more than 400 international submissions.
The jury took place over three days in Washington last July.

The exhibition at The Smithsonian Institution’s International Gallery will be on display
from June 8 through Aug. 29 at the Ripley Center on the Washington Mall. It is a central
feature of the 2010 International Very Special Arts Festival. All of the attendant performing
arts events take place in The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
President Barak Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama are the Honorary Patrons of the
festival. They are joined by the Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Center and VSA Founder,
Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith.
