Remembering Joannie Bina

Joannie H. Bina, 59, retired  housekeeper in the residence halls, died unexpectedly Aug. 21 at her home in Grand Forks.

Joannie Henrietta Bina was born Nov. 21, 1950 in Grand Forks to Edward and Effie (Lunski) Bina. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1968. She worked at several places but her main employment was at UND where she worked in Plant Services for 22 years from 1984 to 2006. Joannie was outgoing. She was very social and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved children and visiting her sister Lynette’s day care. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Joannie is survived by, her mother, Effie Bina, Grand Forks; sisters, Diane Vinesett, West Fargo, Lynette (Billy) Braxton, Grand Forks; brothers, Daniel Bina,  and Jack (Nancy) Bina, both of Grand Forks. She is also survived by her nieces, Melanie (Dave) Ubel, Mindy Braxton, Ashley Braxton, Jessica (Jeremy) Krog and Danni Rose Bina; nephews, Todd Bina, Jerod Bina, Joshua Bina, Dwayne Vinesett, Justin Bina, Joel Braxton and special friend, David Hagen.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Bina.
