Remembering Gerald Green

Gerald Robert Green Sr., retired facilities employee, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12,  at his Grand Forks home with his family by his side.  He was 81.

Gerald was born on June 1, 1929 in Drayton, N.D., to Roy and Matilda (Dangerfield) Green. Gerald farmed in Drayton and married Marjorie Lucille Jensen on July 1, 1948, in Crookston, Minn.  They moved to Grand Forks in 1953. Gerald worked and retired from UND after 33 years of service. Gerald had a love for music and enjoyed dancing. He played a number of instruments including guitar, piano and harmonica.

He is survived by his children, Barbara (Jerry Ditullio) Kjemhus, Sue (Curt) Kolbo, Gwen (Mark) Anderson, Gerald Jr. (Cristie Reed) Green, Becky (Bill) Peterson, Brian (Cindy) Green, Debbie (Todd) Johnson, Jeff Green, all of Grand Forks, Sandy Segovia of Littleton, Co., Gloria (Allen) Brodbeck of Wisc., Cheryl (Scott) Hauglund of Fargo, David (Dondi) Green of Bismarck,  and Tammy (Lonny) Larson of Moorhead. He is also survived by one brother, Jim, of San Francisco.

Gerald has 28 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; his parents, brother Joe, sisters Betty and Charlotte, and two grandsons, Troy Green and Jim Foy.

Funeral Service: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, and one hour before services at the church.
