Remembering Shirley Foster

Shirley L. Foster, retied lab supervisor in the microbiology and immunology department, died on Sept. 24, 2010, in her home in Grand Forks.  She was 67.

Shirley was born on May 2, 1943, in Grand Forks, the daughter of George and Berget Sollom. She grew up and was educated in Grand Forks, attending the University of North Dakota, earning her B.S. in Medical Technology.

Shirley married Porter “Joe” Foster Jr. on Nov.  24, 1967,  in Grand Forks. She was a lab supervisor in the microbiology and immunology department at the UND Medical School for 37 years. Shirley was an avid gardener and quilter, winning many awards at local quilting shows.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Steve) Baugh of White Hall, AR, and 2 grandchildren, Haley and Kirk. Shirley is also survived by her dear friend Lori (Mike) Foley of Gilby.

She was preceded in death by her husband Porter, brother Richard, and parents.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 3:30 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the memorial service at Amundson’s.

INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
