Remembering Shirley L. Foster

Shirley L. Foster, 67, died on Friday, Sept. 24, in her home in Grand Forks.

Shirley, daughter of George and Berget Sollom, was born on May 2, 1943, in Grand Forks. She was educated in Grand Forks, attending UND and earning her B.S. in Medical Technology.

Shirley married Porter “Joe” Foster Jr. on Nov. 24, 1967 in Grand Forks. She was a lab supervisor in the microbiology and immunology department at the UND Medical School for 37 years. Shirley was an avid gardener and quilter, winning many awards at local quilting shows.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Steve) Baugh of White Hall, AR, and two grandchildren, Haley and Kirk. Shirley is also survived by her dear friend Lori (Mike) Foley of Gilby.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Porter; brother, Richard and parents.

  • Memorial Services: Tuesday, Oct. 5, 3:30 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks
  • Visitation: One hour prior to the memorial service at Amundson’s.
  • Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
