Lockwood joins Center for Rural Health

Angie Lockwood has joined the Center for Rural Health (CRH) at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Lockwood is a project assistant for the CRH. In this role she provides support for two statewide federally funded programs—the North Dakota Medicare rural hospital flexibility program (Flex) and the small rural health hospital improvement program (SHIP). She works closely with North Dakota’s 36 critical access hospitals to assist them with Flex and SHIP.

Before joining the CRH, Lockwood worked in education and for a Head Start grantee, where she provided training, technical assistance, and curriculum development. Lockwood brings a cum laude bachelor’s degree in family and consumer science from the University of North Dakota to the CRH, and is originally from Grand Forks.

Established in 1980, the Center for Rural Health is one of the nation’s most experienced rural health organizations. It has developed a full complement of programs to assist researchers, educators, policymakers, health care providers and, most importantly, rural residents to address changing rural environments by identifying and researching rural health issues, analyzing health policy, strengthening local capabilities, developing community-based alternatives, and advocating for rural concerns.
