Remembering Jerome Flaagan

Jerome D. Flaagan, 80 , retired Business Manager at Plant Services, died May 5, 2014 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Jerome Dennis Flaagan was born to Odien and Doris (Schindele) Flaagan on July 6, 1933 at McVille, N.D. He attended school at Tolna, N.D., and graduated from Tolna High School. Jerome Flaagan and Patricia Elsaas were united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1955, at Pekin Lutheran Church, Pekin, N.D. They moved with their family to Grand Forks in 1966. Jerome retired as Business Manager at UND Plant Services after over 26 years of employment at the university.

Jerome was an active member of University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. He was an avid supporter of UND athletics, especially the women’s basketball teams. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jerome greatly loved his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Lea Ann) Flaagan, West Fargo, Julie (Dennis) Justice, Mesa, Ariz., Paul Flaagan, Grand Forks, Dennis (Jayne) Flaagan, East Grand Forks, and John (Holly) Flaagan, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Heather, Stephanie, Alison, Samuel, Seth, Carly, Lucas and Jack; siblings, Janet (Nace) Haugen, Chandler, Ariz., Odell (Ilyce) Flaagan, Tolna, and Margie (Tracy) Henningsgard, New Rockford, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia who died on April 9, 2014; his parents; a brother, Claire; and sisters; Kathryn Loe, and Mavis Enstad.

Memorials are preferred to University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
