Remembering Wayne Parkin

Wayne C. Parkin, retired cabinet maker, East Grand Forks, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was 65. wayne-parkin

Wayne Charles Parkin was born June 29, 1949 in Crookston, Minn., to of Loren and Gertrude (Malha) Parkin. He grew up and attended school in Crookston, graduating from Crookston Central High School with the Class of 1967. Following his high school graduation he attended a technical college in St. Paul, MN. He married Maureen Ann Quirk at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, on Sept. 13, 1980. He worked at Northern Woodwork in Thief River Falls, Minn., Gorman Cabinets in East Grand Forks, and Wood Products of Grand Forks. In 1988 he began employment as a cabinet maker for the University of North Dakota until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2009.

Cherished family members of Wayne include his loving wife Maureen of 33 years; daughters, Michele (Christopher) Rice of Grand Forks,  Jennifer (Corey) Bos, of Moorhead; siblings, Robert Parkin of Nephi, Utah, Howard (Sherrie) Parkin of Yucipa, Calif., Kurt (Tammy) Parkin of Crookston, Marilyn (Henry) Weiland of Euclid, Minn., Keith (Kim) Parkin of Crookston, and Neil (Carol) Parkin of Euclid; brother-in-Law, Pat (Janet) Quirk of Osseo, Wisc., along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Russell Parkin; nephew, Greg Quirk and a grandson, Aiden Bos.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, July 30, in Dahl Funeral Home.

Internment: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
