April 27-29: ‘Blackbird’ to come to Empire’s black box theater

blackbirdThe Empire Theatre Company will present the deeply complex, emotional intense play, “Blackbird,”  through April 29. Sponsored by Manstrom Photography, this “haunting, powerful, incendiary work is the sort of daring theater far too absent from our stages these days,” according to the NY Post.

Winner of the Olivier Award for Best Play, David Harrower’s “Blackbird” tells the tale of Una and Ray. Fifteen years ago they had a relationship. They haven’t set eyes on each other since. Now, years later, she’s found him again. “Blackbird” is a daring portrayal of two people whose lives are inextricably intertwined. This production will take place in the Empire’s black box theater, further intensifying the strength of this play. This play is recommended for mature audiences.

“Blackbird” is directed by Chris Berg, and stage managed by Katy Bushaw. This production features regional actors Darin Kerr and Paige Greenwood. Kerr is a UND faculty member in Humanities and Integrated Studies, and Greenwood is  from Minneapolis.
