Student William Valentine performed with national intercollegiate band

William Valentine, a student from the University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble, recently performed with the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) North Central Division Intercollegiate Band.

He joined music students from colleges and universities throughout the 10-state region of the North Central Division at Western Michigan University for rehearsals and a performance Feb. 22-24. Jamie Nix, Director of Bands at Columbus State University, served as this year’s guest conductor and clinician.

Valentine, a freshman Computer Science and Math major from Grand Forks, played clarinet in the ensemble.

James Popejoy, Director of Bands at UND and Past President of the North Central Division of CBDNA, was a guest conductor with the WMU Concert Band as part of the “Chosen Gems” session at the Conference.
