Professor Emeritus Richard Shafer awarded Fulbright fellowship

UND emeritus professor of journalism Dr. Richard Shafer has been awarded a 2021 Fulbright fellowship to establish a science writing center at Kabale Medical School in Uganda. Shafer retired from UND in 2016 after more than 21 years with the former School of Communication and  the Department of English. While at UND he taught a wide range of journalism and mass communication courses and represented the university as a visiting professor, consultant and researcher in over forty countries. He and his wife, former UND professor Dr. Jill Shafer, both currently work at Washington State University in Pullman.
