Remembering Donna Boe

Donna Boe

Donna Boe, retired secretary in mathematics, passed away May 13, 2022, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, N.D. She was 80.

Donna Marie Boe was born April 2, 1942, in Beaver, Iowa, to Ledu “Jack” H. Larson and Isla Hitchcock Holman Larson. She grew up and graduated from Hatton High School. She attended Mayville State University, Mayville, N.D., and Northland College in East Grand Forks, Minn.

She married her high school sweetheart Gary Boe on Aug. 18, 1963, in St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, haring over 58 years of marriage. Donna and Gary lived in Cavalier, N.D., and Park River, N.D., during Gary’s teaching career and then moved back to Hatton in 1968. Donna was a stay-at-home mother until her three daughters were in school.

She worked and thoroughly enjoyed 25 years at the University Of North Dakota as a secretary in the mathematics department.

Donna was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Garfield Lodge in Hatton. She was also a Girl Scout Brownie Leader for her daughter’s local troop. Donna loved spending time with her husband, three daughters, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also loved spending time in their cabin in Morson, Ontario, Canada. She loved fishing with her husband, family and friends at Lakes of the Woods, Ontario. Donna enjoyed snowmobiling with her family and friends locally around Hatton and in different spots in Yellowstone Park in Wyoming and Montana. Donna enjoyed painting ceramics and growing her flowers. She was also an avid cribbage card player with family.

Donna is survived by her husband: Gary; daughters:  Michelle (Patrick) Hogan of Wildwood, MO, Suzanne Boe of Hatton, ND and Jacquelyn (Dean) Schmidt of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Evan Hogan, Chris Wilson, Tiffany Allen, Briana (Samuel) Herzog, Benton Schmidt and Grace Schmidt; great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Nina, Caleb, Reagan, Samuel Jr., Nicolas and Jordan.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Ledu “Jack” and Isla Larson.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Service: Will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 20, 2022 at St John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND.

Burial: Will be in St John Cemetery in Hatton, ND.
