‘Hairspray’ and ‘Legally Blonde’ will play at Chester Fritz Auditorium

Nederlander National Markets and The Chester Fritz Auditorium are pleased to announce their new “Broadway in Grand Forks” partnership.

Tickets for Hairspray and Legally Blonde – The Musical will go on sale on July 22 at 10 a.m.

These two shows will be presented this year with a long-term goal of building more robust Broadway seasons in the future. The debut presentation, Hairspray, follows 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960’s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world?

Next up at the Fritz is Legally Blonde -The Musical. The story follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, sexism, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

Broadway in Grand Forks show performance dates

Hairspray: September 17, 2022

Featuring the beloved score of hit songs including “Welcome to the 60’s,” “Good Morning Baltimore” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat,” Hairspray is “fresh, winning, and deliriously tuneful!” (The New York Times).

This all-new touring production reunites Broadway’s award-winning creative team led by Director Jack O’Brien and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell to bring Hairspray to a new generation of theater audiences.

Legally Blonde – The Musical: February 13, 2023

This contemporary, sassy musical moves at a breakneck pace driven by memorable songs and explosive dances. Legally Blonde – The Musical warms the heart by proving that self-discovery can be way too much fun and hilarious to boot.

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting more serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her ingenuity and charm to get into Harvard, too. School begins with endless struggles, but with the help of her new friends, Elle quickly realizes her potential, and her true assets, as she sets out to prove herself to the world and make everyone a believer.
