Remembering Bailey Turner

On Thursday, March 5, the University of North Dakota learned that former UND student Bailey Turner passed away. Bailey was from Murrieta, Calif., and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in May 2025. Bailey maintained many connections with the campus community following her graduation.

Bailey’s mother expressed deep gratitude for the community and fellowship that Bailey found at UND’s Pride Center and shared, “I never saw Bailey happier than when she was embraced as her true self, as my daughter. I’m grateful for all the support and acceptance Bailey received in helping her be her true authentic self.”

Plans for a memorial event to honor Bailey are pending.

We extend our deepest condolences to Bailey’s family and friends. They are all in our thoughts during this difficult time.

The loss of someone we care about affects us all, and we have several resources available to both our on-campus and online students, which are listed below. We hope everyone will take some time to remember the positive impact Bailey had on the lives of others.

UND President
