Remembering Julie Horn

Julie Horn, 77, a retired staff member of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, died July 2, 2026, in Grand Forks.

Horn was a longtime employee of the School of Medicine & Health Sciences, serving 44 years at UND. She began her career in September 1980 as a clerk and later as an administrative secretary. In 2004, she became an administrative officer in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Therapeutics.

Following departmental mergers, she continued her service in what is now the Department of Biomedical Sciences until her retirement.

Horn’s colleagues remember her as tenacious, hard-working, loyal and spirited, as well as a great friend. She was known for her love of Mountain Dew, and, as many fondly said, for being a true spitfire. These qualities made Horn a dedicated and beloved colleague. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at Dahl Funeral Home. A full obituary will soon be posted to the Dahl Funeral Home website.
