UND Mortar Board chapter earns national awards

The Mortar Board National College Honor Society announced its annual, national awards for 2026.

For the second year in a row, the University of North Dakota’s Quo Vadis Chapter of Mortar Board received both the Gold Torch Award and Project Excellence Award for its activities over the past year.

UND’s chapter joined 19 other institutions for the 2026 Gold Torch Award, which is given to chapters executing and exemplifying the Society’s core values of excellence in academics, leadership and service.

In receiving the Project Excellence Award, UND was again recognized in the community service category for its annual Turkey Basket Drive.

The Turkey Basket Drive, held for the past 46 years, sees chapter members distribute Thanksgiving meal baskets to low-income families in Grand Forks.

Founded in 1918, Mortar Board National College Honor Society recognizes college juniors and seniors for excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.
