Xusheng Wang’s lab publishes paper in Nature Communications
Xusheng Wang, assistant professor of biology, and his lab in the Department of Biology recently published a paper in Nature Communications titled, “SMAP is a pipeline for sample matching in proteogenomics.”
Large-scale omics studies hold the promise of advancing the in-depth understanding of human disease. Mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics has emerged as an important molecular profiling technology complementary to other omics, such as genomics and transcriptomics. However, sample mix-up in large-scale proteomics studies is a widespread problem.
“Our work provides an effective tool for sample verification in a large-scale MS-based proteomics study,” Dr. Wang said.
Ling Li, a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Wang’s lab is the first author of the paper. The other authors are Alyssa Erickson, Kincaid Rowbotham, and He Huang, all Dr. Wang’s lab members; Kai Guo and Junguk Hur of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences; Mingming Niu, Yuxin Li, and Junmin Peng, all of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Jie Luo and Yi Jiang of two institutes in China; Chunyu Liu of SUNY Upstate Medical University.
