Students: Explore Forensic Social Work and Justice Systems in Berlin and Amsterdam

Turn spring break into a global learning adventure!

Students of all majors are invited to join a 2027 University Directed Program through UND Study Abroad, organized by Shanna Urban, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work.

The International Forensic Social Work and Comparative Justice Systems program will take students to Berlin, Germany, and Amsterdam, Netherlands, where they will explore international approaches to forensic practice, justice systems and social services through site visits, cultural immersion and applied learning.

Students will have the opportunity to:

• Compare international and U.S. justice and social service systems through social work ethics and human rights frameworks.
• Explore trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches to international cases and justice practices.
• Develop a broader global perspective and apply their learning to policy, programs and practice in the United States.

The program is especially suited for students interested in social work, criminal justice, forensic practice and human rights, but students from any major are welcome to participate.
