Remembering Alice Louise Owen

Alice Louise Owen, retired assistant professor of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Therapeutics, died Dec. 21 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks.  She was 81.

Alice Koning was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to George and Mary Lemmers Koning.

She married John B. Owen on June 11, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa. Alice and John moved to Grand Forks in 1966 with their two children. Both were professors at UND.  She began working at PPT in 1966, and retired in 1991.

Alice is survived by her husband John of Grand Forks, her son John A. Owen of Roseville Minn., daughter Nancy (Robert) Jackson, Hollywood, Md., her grandsons Christopher Owen and David Owen and her sisters Mary Bosker and Marcie Deblaey.

She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Koning.

A graveside service in Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date in 2012.
