UND's faculty and staff newsletter

Remembering Lloyd Omdahl

In an effort to help keep the campus community informed, “In Remembrance” publishes notices about the deaths of faculty or staff who have retired from the University.

“In Remembrance” posts must be requested by a family member or representative of the family for the individual, or the UND department that the individual worked for (with the permission of the family or next-of-kin).

Lloyd Omdahl, professor emeritus of political science, former lieutenant governor of North Dakota and longtime columnist, died Sunday, April 14, at age 93.

Omdahl taught for more than 30 years at the University of North Dakota, including for 10 years after his official retirement, and also served as director of its Bureau of Governmental Affairs.

His official obituary can be found at Amundson Funeral Home. A tribute featuring several prominent North Dakotan leaders has been published in the Grand Forks Herald, and a feature story honoring Omdahl’s service is available at UND Today, as well as a reprint of one of his past columns.
